This is an Original Tour Program for QUEEN'S 1977 "A DAY AT THE RACES" World Tour. It is the smaller / rarer concert program with a silver embossed cover, containing 24 pages of color photos of the band, a bio on each band member, a history of the band, a list of awards and Fan Club info. There were two different programs printed for this tour, and this is definitely the rarer and more collectible of the two. The program measures 8.25"x 6" and the silver cover features the raised Freddie Mercury designed band logo pressed into the front.
The "A Day at the Races" Tour was a concert tour by the British rock band Queen and supported their late 1976 released album "A Day at the Races". This tour was the first to use the song "Somebody to Love", Tie Your Mother Down", "You Take My Breath Away" and many others.  "Brighton Rock" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" were performed in full for the first time.  Also, singer Freddie Mercury would perform a vocal canon to segue between "White Man" and "The Prophet's Song". The opening act on most of the North American leg was Thin Lizzy and the tour was nicknamed the "Queen Lizzy" Tour. In New York City, the concert at Madison Square Garden was sold out within moments of tickets going on sale. The final two shows on the tour at Earls Court were filmed and is widely traded among fans. These shows were of note as the band used an expensive lighting rig in the shape of a crown for the very first time. Both shows were also officially recorded on video and the first show was also released on many bootlegs in almost excellent quality. Both gigs included a Rock'n'Roll Medley (this medley is also the only bootleg recording from the second night). This Concert Program is in exc. condition and was purchased by me at the Atlanta Omni show the night of Feb. 21, 1977. It has remained in a dresser drawer for over 42 years. I also have a mint condition concert ticket from this show as well.
